Appreciative Inquiry: New Horizons in Strength-Based Organization Development
David Cooperrider
Case Western Reserve University

A - or Appreciative Inquiry - is the most recognized name describing the powerful new paradigm for strength-based organization development and change. Drawing upon the latest findings from today's positive psychology movement and AI's exciting applications in organizations like the BBC, the United States Navy, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and the Yellow Roadway Corporation, this session explores the fresh horizons of AI and outlines the future of the field. In this stirring keynote address, hear the story of AI from the pioneering figure in this arena, and learn how AI's strength based approaches are today transforming processes of strategic change in areas like organizational learning, mergers and acquisitions, large scale planning, corporate turnarounds, organizational design and business and society leadership. Especially exciting, as this presentation will demonstrate live, is the whole area of virtual OD and how it is becoming a reality with the help of new collaboration tools and conferencing techniques.

BBQ from Bencon - a collaborative role play simulation that will continue for the duration of the conference.
Marie Jasinski
Director, Design Planet

Discover the power of web-based role play simulations. In this session we will explore ways to do role play simulations online. There are several ways to learn.
You can:
  • Play a role – Take on one of many roles and immerse yourself in the experience. We’ll give you a thorough briefing and support through the process using an experienced role play “buddy”.
  • Follow a player - monitor their progress, communicate with them behind the scenes and coach them to achieve their goals.
  • Log in as a guest – for those who have limited time, this option lets you observe the role play unfold during the conference.
A moderator and a player will be keeping parallel Blogs so you can track what goes on behind the scenes. There will be a concurrent discussion on the conference bulletin board about web-based role play simulations together with a comprehensive set of references and resources for you to explore.
Role play is unpredictable, frustrating, confronting, exciting. We don’t know what will emerge – but that’s the fabulous illusion created by web-based role play!

The Game of Games, a Virtual Personal development experience
Angelo John Lewis
The Game of Games

Angelo will describe his innovative approach to personal and organizational development. The Game of Games is a 10-week virtual game played via conference call, over the Internet and through offline challenges. Players enter the game with a goal and are joined by others with similar – or wildly different -- goals. During each of five game phases, you work step-by-step to achieve your goal while at the same time helping others to do the same. While playing to win, you have a chance to win prizes, have fun and experience community.
