  Rita Boags, PhD
Principal Consultant,
Leadership Technologies


Rita S. Boags, Ph.D. is the principal consultant at Leadership Technologies, LLC. The company specializes in the implementation of mentoring and leadership programs which impact the Glass Ceiling in Fortune 500 companies and public agencies. She is the author of several guidebooks on mentoring which include MENTORING: Information Guide, Implementing a Best Practices Mentoring Initiative: A Coordinator’s Guide and Toolkit, and The Mentoring Bridge: A Self-Study Guide for Informal Mentoring Partnerships.

Before launching her consulting practice in 1985, Dr. Boags worked as an independent clinical psychologist, taught at the California School of Professional Psychology, and became a staff member of the Training and Development department at Hughes Aircraft Company. She gained valuable experience as an associate consultant to Dr. Price Cobbs of Pacific Management Systems working on major diversity projects.

Dr. Boags has served as the coordinator and co-host of four Best Practices in Mentoring Conferences. She is currently a member of the American Society for Training and Development, the Diversity Leadership Forum, the International Mentoring Association, the Multi-Cultural Foodservice and Hospitality Association, and the Society for Human Resource Development.

Dr. Boags received her B.A. from Mt. St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles and a doctorate degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. While a graduate student she was the recipient of a Ford Foundation Fellowship for Black Americans.
 
       
 
  Deb Colden

Deb is an independent coach and strategy consultant in the Silicon Valley. Her clients include companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Agilent, AMD, and Blue Pumpkin software. A 20-year veteran of the high-tech industry and former manager of an innovative internal management consulting practice at Hewlett-Packard, Deb specializes in powerful, simple and immediate coaching techniques that boost the energy and unique leadership capabilities of busy professionals in real time.

Prior to her own consulting business, Deb had extensive experience in management and cross-organizational leadership roles. She joined HP in 1982 as a management development specialist in Corporate Education. For the next 15 years, she held a variety of marketing management roles within the company focused on establishing HP’s direct and indirect distribution channel programs. Before joining the high tech field, she worked in publishing and broadcast industries in a variety of operational positions.

Deb holds a Bachelor’s degree from Pomona College and MBA with emphasis on corporate finance and organizational behavior from the University of Southern California.
 
       
 
 
  Mike Jay

Mike Jay has been a professional business coach, consultant and successful entrepreneur for more than 35 years. As a business leader for much of his life, he has experienced first-hand what it means to deal with difficult management issues. As an active entrepreneur, he has participated in his share of "successful failures." Mike's broad business background adds a depth of real-world knowledge to his ability to connect with clients, audiences and organizations.

As an award- winning U.S. Marine, Mike parlayed his military leadership experience into cutting-edge agribusiness and was a nationally featured agribusiness innovator. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, where he also won the highest award for senior athletes, the "Aggie Heart Award", leading the 1975 Aggies to a Southwest Conference Football Championship as a quarterback.

Mike's experience in leadership led to management success in medicine, hospitality and professional business services. He went back to graduate school at the age of 40 to study Business & Organizational Behavior. Mike has been featured in international publications for his innovative work with employees.   Dr. Meera Manahan

Meera Manahan manages the Customer-Centered Design Services team for Hewlett-Packard Company. Her team is located in three cities: Cupertino, Houston, and Littleton, MA (near Boston). She and the group have supported the design of hardware, software, documentation, web sites and other user interfaces using a variety of human factors techniques including participatory design, contextual research, usability testing, and rapid prototyping of user interface designs. Meera is passionate about using various complementary research methods to create insightful understanding of customers around the world.

Prior to joining HP, Meera worked at Compaq Computer for nine years, where she led the Human Factors team. Previously, she worked for NASA-JSC, for Lockheed on the Space Station, and at IBM. She has a BS & MS in Industrial Engineering, with specialization in human factors, from Texas A&M, and a PhD in Industrial Engineering (again, specialization in HF) from the University of Houston.
 
       
 
  Merci Miglino

Merci has been promoting ideas and people within the New York political scene for nearly 20 years. A former teacher, reporter, communications director, and campaign manager, she left a six-figure job with the NYS Senate to build a successful practice as a coach, facilitator and trainer for individuals and organizations.

Merci trains for the New York State AIDS Institute, Civil Service Employees Association, Seton Health, Magellan Behavioral Health, the State University of New York at Albany, NY, and the Capital District Employee Assistance Program. Her private coaching practice includes entrepreneurs, sole proprietors, career-changers, students, and other coaches/facilitators. Margo has a unique combination of experience in line and staff management, academic work in business and behavioral sciences, and experience in structuring and managing human performance systems. Her innovations include application of a criterion-referenced approach to management skill development and creation of a facilitated mentoring process. Her best seller book,Beyond the Myths and Magic of Mentoring: How to Facilitate an Effective Mentoring Process, includes thirty years of research and client experiences with her Facilitated Mentoring Model©.

Margo earned a B.S. degree, with honors, at Sacramento State College, and MBA at John F. Kennedy University and was elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, National Honor Society in Business. California State University, School of Business, Awarded Margo the 1998 Alum of the Year; CSUS Alumni Association honored her with the Distinguished Service Award, 1988. In 1987 Margo was invited to be a Founding Member of the McLaren College of Business Advisory Council, University of San Francisco, 1988-1998. John F. Kennedy University Board of Regents elected her to the Board of Regents 1990-1999.
 
       
 
  Laura Whitworth

Laura Whitworth, co-founder of the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), is one of the world's most accomplished and renowned coaches. A former CPA, she is also co-author of the book, Co-Active Coaching, a best-seller addressing the skills and practice of coaching.

A professional coach, she works with individuals, groups, teams, and organizations toward greater productivity and effectiveness. Laura has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs and organizations such as Pacific Gas and Electric, Pacific Bell, and the Oakland Unified School District. In 1997, she was named one of the ten most influential coaches by Professional Coach Journal.

A frequent keynote speaker, Laura also recently co-founded The Bigger Game Company which delivers programs focusing on coaching and training leaders. Through a non-profit organization, she is taking Co-Active Coaching into federal and state prisons where it has had a profound and transformational impact on the lives of prisoners.

Prior to embarking on a coaching career in 1989, Laura was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal, a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Company, an Administrative Vice President at an advertising agency and an Alaskan Bush outfitter and explorer.

A founding member of the Personal and Professional Coaches Association, which merged with the International Coaches Federation (ICF), she is currently on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Professional/Personal Coaches.

An MA in Regional Studies from Harvard University and a PhD in Political Science (International Communications and Behavior) from MIT initiated Hannah’s career working with global leaders and executives. Her vision is the creation of a sustainable human and business environment through executive leadership worldwide - one executive, one team, one company or organization at a time.

With a strong background in global marketing and communications, Hannah has worked with executives and executive coaches in diverse functional areas in the private, public and non-profit sectors in over 45 countries in North America, East and West Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia and enjoys a worldwide network of colleagues and clients.

A Master Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation, Hannah is a leader in promoting awareness of global and cross-cultural coaching and in training global executive coaches. She hosts ICF’s Global Executive Coaching Special Interest Group. One of the first coaches to receive the designation Certified Teleclass Leader, she has also trained many coaches and facilitators to lead interactive teleforums.

She has developed a number of Executive Education Programs, including the very successful Coaching as a Function of Leadership™ in its third year as a core part of an internal corporate leadership development program. She is a Master Certified Coach in High Impact Teaming™, a coaching program for developing business teams.

Hannah is Chancellor of the Academia Global Executive Coach Training Institute, a comprehensive curriculum for coaching global executive coaches, founded in 2003. The Institute offers a combination of in-person and telephone training, mentor coaching, study groups and coach practice partnerships, and offers Certification as a Global Executive Coach, as well as continuing education programs.

A well-known author and presenter, Hannah has been a Keynote Speaker and presenter at many international conferences in Europe, the US, and online.
