Scott Ackerman

Scott Ackerman is a senior global program manager for Hewlett-Packard's Professions Program, aimed at creating peer-driven communities throughout the HP Services organization (65,000+ employees). He is responsible for the creation, growth, and sustainability of numerous communities within HP. Scott is also on the global team responsible for the ongoing measurement of the success of these communities and is a consultant for numerous other communities throughout the company. |

Jeff De Cagna
Chief Strategist and Founder, Principled Innovation LLC
Jeff De Cagna --the association community's leading voice for innovation--is chief strategist and founder of Principled Innovation LLC located in Arlington, Virginia. A former association executive with the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE) and the Special Libraries Association among other organizations, Jeff now works exclusively with associations on the challenges of crafting strategy, organizing for innovation and leveraging knowledge in a turbulent and uncertain world. Jeff is a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and a frequent speaker and author for ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership, Association Forum of Chicagoland and various other associations. Jeff serves on the faculty for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organization Management at the University of Notre Dame and Villanova. He is the founding managing editor of the Journal of Association Leadership, author of The Association Innovation Blog ( www.associationinnovation.com) and the host of "Inside Associations" on the Association Internet Radio Network. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University, Jeff holds a master's degree from Harvard University. He is currently working on a book on association innovation. |

Soren Kaplan
Co-Founder, iCohere
Soren Kaplan is a co-founder of iCohere, a software and consulting firm that builds collaborative online communities. He also designs, organizes and hosts iCohere‘s conference series that includes the Collaborative Learning, Collaborative Communities, and Collaborative Leadership conferences.
As a speaker and authority on collaboration, web communities and online learning, Soren has presented at conferences, institutes and universities including the Organization Development National Conference, the American Society of Training and Development, the e-Learning Forum, the Creative Education Foundation, Alliant University, and the Harvard Business School. Quotes and articles from Soren have appeared in numerous publications including Fast Company, Collaborate, ASTD‘s Learning Circuits, Strategy & Leadership, the Journal of Creativity and Innovation Management, and the Journal of Strategic Change. Prior to founding iCohere, Soren held numerous positions at Hewlett-Packard Company including Manager of Business Strategy Services where he led an internal consulting group that assisted management teams across the company with strategic planning and organizational development. Before joining HP, Soren was a consultant with Cambridge, MA based IdeaScope Associates and consulted to global 500 companies, including Kodak, Siemens, Nestle, Avery Dennison, and 3M. Soren holds Master‘s and Ph.D. degrees in Organizational Psychology. |

Laurie Maslak
Consultant, Edging Leadership
Laurie Maslak is a facilitator, consultant, and educator with 20 years of combined leadership, consulting, and teaching experience in the public and corporate sectors. She holds a master's in leadership and training from Royal Roads University and a bachelor's in nursing from the University of Calgary. Laurie is also a Certified Human Resources Professional and an active member of several human resources associations. She received the Human Resource of Calgary Award of Excellence in 2002. |

Richard McDermott, PhD
Consultant, McDermott Consulting
Richard has been designing knowledge-intensive organizations for nearly two decades, working with engineering, professional service, sales, and manufacturing. He was recently the subject matter expert for a national study on how to create a culture that encourages knowledge sharing and is currently subject matter expert for a similar study of communities of practice.
Prior to starting McDermott & Co., Richard worked in the Corporate Education department at Polaroid Corporation, where he designed career development programs for technical professionals and experienced first-hand the dilemmas of being a knowledge worker. He was a Research Assistant at the Harvard Business School and a faculty member at Lesley College, teaching management, organizational behavior, and organizational change. |

Hubert Saint-Onge

Hubert Saint-Onge is the founder and Principal of SaintOnge Alliance. In addition to holding key senior management positions in leading companies over the past 25 years, he has developed and refined a knowledge assets model to optimize the performance of an organization. This model strategically integrates business plans with branding, leadership and people management.

Hubert’s client work showcases the extensive experience he accumulated as a senior executive in the oil industry as well as in financial services. Hubert was recently featured as one of five practitioners around the world who have had the most impact on organizations, based on his work as Senior VP of Strategic Capabilities at Clarica. During his tenure, the company was also selected as one of the top ten “Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises” in Canada, two years in a row. The Prime Minister of Canada appointed Hubert to the Board of The Canadian Centre for Management Development between 1995 and 1999. He has given presentations globally on organizational learning, leadership development, and knowledge value creation, and since 2002 has co-authored two leading-edge books in the field. His most recent book The Conductive Organization provides a blueprint for creating knowledge-based cultures in organizations to achieve breakthrough performance. |

Bronwyn Stuckey

I am or have been a classroom teacher/researcher/community facilitator/lecturer/educational technologist/instructional designer/teacher educator. In recent years I discovered that communities of practice were a crossroad for many of my interests and the perfect topic for education to celebrate shared understandings with industry, enterprise, government and NGOs. As I present to you I have just completed my doctoral thesis case studying communities across all these areas.
I am a founding member of CPsquare (www.cpsquare.org) and coach in the Etienne Wenger Foundations of Communities of Practice Workshop ( www.cpsquare.org/edu/foundations/). I have over the past two years facilitated and consulted to online community groups and communities of practice here in Australia and internationally. I am also am researching with Indiana University Learning Sciences team working with Sasha Barab in research surrounding a new 3D multi-user program for students around the world to collaborate. My work there in part focuses on developing a community in practice for teachers and researchers in the program. |

Vicki N. Suter
Director, National Learning Infrastructure Initiative, Educause
Vicki N. Suter was formerly director of EDUCAUSE‘s National Learning Infrastructure Initiative projects for the past four years, exploring the intersection of pedagogy and technology over a range of topics from electronic portfolios to virtual communities of practice to learning objects. She has over twenty years of experience in coordinating technical projects and programs, developing information technology strategic plans for a wide range of organizations, and conducting research on telecommuting, networking, and distance education. Suter received an MBA from the University of California, Davis, and holds an undergraduate degree in economics. She is currently a doctoral student at Pepperdine University in the Graduate School of Education & Psychology. |
