An Online Course with Howard Glasser
September 20 through October 28, 2010
Frequently Asked Questions
Online courses are conducted entirely over the internet. Presenters and attendees participate directly from their computers, through a website that allows students to watch video presentations, participate in online discussions by typing in ideas and comments, and join in live video events that allow questions and answers in real time.
Like traditional face-to-face courses, online courses provide presentations by leading experts, along with interactive workshops, discussion forums, networking opportunities, and many other resources such as a library of readings on important topics for the course. An online course is accessible using any standard web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) and you may log in and participate at any time that fits your schedule, day or night.

A few days before the course site opens (September 13), you will receive an email with the URL (internet address) for the course website, and your login ID and password.
These notices, and all announcements about the course, will come from this email address: sqldba@icohere.com. In order to prevent these notices going to your spam mailbox, we suggest placing this e-mail address in your e-mail address book. We ask, however, that you do not send any email to this address, because it will simply disappear into cyberspace.
Here are some estimates of how long the course events will take over the course of the six weeks:
- The six recorded course presentations last for approximately 45 to 60 minutes each.
- The six live course sessions will last for approximately 60 to 90 minutes each.
- We highly recommend an additional hour of participation each week to optimize your online learning experience and make sure you can receive the 15 CEUs. Suggested additional experiences might include posting comments in the online discussions, responding to the posts of others, and reading the rich materials that Howard will provide in the site library.
All participants will have full access to the course website for 30 days following the end of the course, which includes all presentation archives and recordings, discussion threads, video recordings, library resources, and other tools.
