Vicki Suter Introducing Your Workshop Facilitator, Vicki Suter

A veteran of working with online communities since 1994, Vicki Suter provides guidance and facilitation throughout the four-week online workshop. As a researcher at University of California, Davis, Vicki led the project team for the design, development, and management of the Davis Community Network, which she co-founded in 1994, and which is still in operation today.

As a former Director of the National Learning Infrastructure Initiative (NLII) for EDUCAUSE, Vicki led the design, development and facilitation of six virtual communities of practice, including the NLII’s professional development programs.

Vicki currently leads the higher education client services activities for iCohere, a software and consulting firm focused on creating and supporting learning communities, communities of practice, and project communities. Vicki received her M.B.A. from the University of California, Davis, holds an undergraduate degree in economics, and is currently completing her doctorate at the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University.

She has written and published a number of articles including a recently co-authored EDUCAUSE Review article (Vol. 40, No. 1, January/February 2005) on social software and the future of conferences and a co-authored chapter in a newly released book on Next Generation Course Management Systems: Beyond Accidental Pedagogy.
